During a lull in the conversation I tell you I sold the surplus of my HCG to some dirty bulkers, thinking I could use the proceeds to have the family history ghost written by Dan Brown. Working title; ‘Incognito Mode’. We make a wishlist, entry by entry placed into the blank cells of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet; a red faux fur Fendi bag pursed like a butthole, a mission walk cursed by stick-up-butt, a magic wand named strength, a maypole in the middle of Big W, yogurt yogurt doypack suckpack non-GMO. Inside we lie on our backs on the marble, which has been softened by wear and is unsharp like creche furniture corners. We are captured by a camera floating above while we hold mango seeds to our bellies, diaphragm breathing, knees to chest, legs apart, practising in wind clearing position. The building is a sad royal flush of lapis lazuli and tigers eye, a soggy pouch kept cool like the body of a dead mad elephant. When we near where Princess Di once had her picture taken, we stop – your feet wrapped in prophylactics – and we take a selfie, which swooshes away through the folding cypress pines. Sitting on the bench outside you turn to me and say, “do you ever get that feeling - you know - when you go into a room and you forget why you entered in the first place?” and that reminds me to check if the dog is still breathing.

Andrew Varano is from Perth, Western Australia and makes video and sculptures to help him understand his interpersonal relationships, mental health, family history and relation to politics.
