Kelly Doley
Opening: Tuesday 13 July, 2021 Dates: 13 July - 14 August, 2021
Kelly Doley is an artist based on Gadigal and Bidjigal land since the early 2000s. Born in Naarm/Melbourne she is a descendent of Clan Muir from the south-west Lowlands of Scotland. Her projects often use the ‘low’ art form of hand painted signwriting typically practiced by ‘untrained’ workers. She was taught this craft by her Dad who was a commercial set painter in the 80s and 90s.
Kelly is a founding member of artist collective Barbara Cleveland, represented by Sullivan+Strumpf and is currently a tenant of the Powerhouse Creative Industries Residencies. She has exhibited most recently at Sullivan+Strumpf, 2018 Adelaide Biennial and ‘Unfinished Business: Perspectives on art and feminism’ at ACCA, Melbourne. Her works are held in various collections including Sheila Foundation, Artbank, Museum of Contemporary Art and the Art Gallery of NSW.
