Rowan McNaught Orientation to Wonderful Turbines

Opening: Tuesday 18 October, 6-8pm Dates: 18 October-5 November 2011

Wonderful Turbines introduces the Emerging Cultivator Global Kit, a kind of mirror-image duplication of a real-life ecological project. Both state an aim to collaboratively design and build a set of open-source tools that provide basic infrastructure for a small, modern community as well as replicate the tools themselves. Who was the first eco-innovator? Can I help? Together, we’ll form ‘a pillar of cultural acceptance’. Rowan Mcnaught lives and works in Melbourne. He works across video, sculpture, sound and online with a focus on extracting/querying some of the new cultural models that we are making and using together now. Lately, he’s spending more time on participation in decentralised collaborative projects such as Taylors lake super colony. In 2009, he completed his BFA (Painting) at VCA. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally (in China, Thailand, S. Korea & Netherlands).

Rowan Mcnaught’s work is presented as part of a curated program for BUS Projects’ Screen Space by Kim Brockett.
